This infographic displays a timeline of historical events that impacted the hip-hop industry by the era in which they happened from its origin in 1925 until 2020. Each era is identified by a different color, and the historical events are coded with an icon either representing a breakthrough milestone, album, death, or award. The eras move in unison with the illustration of a turntable which was the instrument used to create the rhythmic scratching effect that developed the sound for hip-hop music.
